today, yesterday, and before yesterday
May. 26th, 2008 01:06 pm1. At work. Very quite.
2. Saturday night, friends and I treated
sfmijo to 1550 on Hyde Street for his birthday. Friend Mark knows, the gay owners. Month long waiting list for this venue. But he got us in. Food, and owners (woof) was scrumptious! And not cheap :(
3. Sunday, Eagle, then Furry Sunday at 440. Eagle packed; lots of out of towners. 440 not so packed; might all be in Chicago for Bear Pride? Edge bar packed!
4. Home early. Exhausted from rigorous leg work out early that day
5. News this morning was disturbing. Feds predicts construction starts lowest since late 30's. So is this a recession or a depression? Maybe mom is right; a heading for a depression.
6. Thinking of looking elsewhere for work. But what I hear, work is hard to find??? Best make the best of it and stay put.
7. Well off to lunch. At least we can close early.

don't forget
May. 26th, 2008 05:11 pmwhat today is about. Whether you are for this war or not. And whether you were for those past wars or not. Young men and women, by choice or not (draft), have gone to war, have given up their lives, maybe for their country, or maybe just to protect their buddies. Lives have been lost to families, lovers, partners and friends.... RIP.. This is not a conservative thing or a liberal thing.... it's a life and death thing.......RIP.......
James Bradley: I finally came to the conclusion that he maybe he was right. Maybe there's no such thing as heroes. Maybe there are just people like my dad. I finally came to understand why they were so uncomfortable being called heroes. Heroes are something we create, something we need. It's a way for us to understand what's almost incomprehensible, how people could sacrifice so much for us, but for my dad and these men, the risks they took, the wounds they suffered, they did that for their buddies. They may have fought for their country but they died for their friends. For the man in front, for the man beside him, and if we wish to truly honor these men we should remember them the way they really were, the way my dad remembered them. (Script: Flags of our Fathers)
