1. My sister and bother-in-law slept over last night.
2. My sister made the most incredible photo album of the history of our family, going back 3 to -4generations in memory of my Mom an Dad.
3. Up early this morning, off to Il Forniao Restaurant in Palo Alto to set up memorabilia of my mom
4. Then to the cemetery for the service. About 12 guests attended. Some of my friends, my sister's friends, mom's friends, and nephews etc. Most of my mom's friends are too old, or not well enough to travel... so the group was small
5. My sister began the event, with a poignant and entertaining history of the Grandparents, how they met in Alberta, Canada, on to family history of Mom, Dad etc. Some of this I had forgotten.
6. The priest said some words, read the 23 Psalm. Gave his blessing
7. Then it was my turn. The night before, I did not have a thing to write or say. Then it flowed. Over 3 pages, from my heart of my family, and of course what Mom met to me (which I may post sometime)
8. Nervous, hot in a suit (it was almost 100), and shaking and crying a bit, and shaking again, I managed to say what was dear to my heart. I have done this before in the past, with no problem, but this time, I was shaking excessively.
9 Later, some of the guest said some nice words, and my sister closed the ceremony with a poem which she had written. It was very moving
10. Then off to Il Fornio for a wonderful lunch, champagne, and wine. This was in the same room that we had my mom's 85th last yr. And it was perfect place for closure.
11. My best friend, Carlos, who was close to my mom was there. And my friend David, was nice enough to also join.
12 After lunch, my sister and family and friends left for home, and David drove me back to my place so I could change, and join him and his BF for dinner in the Castro. We met up with Carlos, and friends at Badlands, and then dinner at Eureka. The Castro packed with men in shorts. Summer is finally here!
13. Home, pooped, and needing to work tomorrow, I am off to sleep.
14. A day that I know my Mom would of approved and enjoyed. And for me, closure.
15. I am glad it's over. I so love my family ,and of course Mom and Dad (may they Rest in Peace)
16 Nite
