Cleaning "Green"
Apr. 7th, 2010 01:32 pm1. I decided to try this new cleaning company to clean an apartment.
2. They apparently use "Green" products, that are environmentally safe, and safe for those with allergies to cleaning products.
3. I think she, the owner is a lesbian. The man who is her cleaning partner, definitely passes the Gaydar test.
4. I peeked in to see how they were doing. Carpets were cleaned via a portable cleaner (I always prefer truck mount, for better suction and cleaning). And they had a de-ionization machine running in the corner.
Results:
1. It was clean but not feeling real clean. There was a light residue on the counter tops. The carpet was clean, but a strange odor in the apartment.
2. They missed cleaning the vertical blinds in all rooms.
Conclusion:
1. Sorry. But nothing beats the so called die hard unsafe cleaning supplies. Sorta like using the products from the dollar store. They just don't produce the same results. Although Orange Cleaner from Home Depot works great!
2. Our regular cleaner, who scrubs, with cleaning products that are not "Green" does a better job, and the place ends up smelling clean. And no residue.
3. If the apartment is occupied with a person sensitive to products I would use them.
In my first building, this woman swore by "Earth Friendly' products. She had been in remission from cancer and wanted to be cautious for her and her baby. Upon move out, she said it was cleaned by her. Well. Not really. Same thing. It just did not feel that clean. And the mold on the tile and grout had to be zapped by strong tile cleaner. Of course she may not of been that clean to begin with.
4. I will still keep these cleaners on the list as the back up. For it really was not that bad.
5. But hurray for Clorox,Comet, X-14, Windex, and Tilex. They are such a help.
