The weekend and week so far
Jun. 2nd, 2011 11:00 amYes I know. It's already Thursday!
1. I have been so busy with work, renewing my RE license, playing and whatnot, that I have had no time this week do do much LJ'ing
2. Last Friday was the usual. Mark and many friends were at IML in Chicago, so they were not to be seen here, in SF, but the eateries, and bars were packed with the 3-holiday weekend visitors. But chatting with other friends and acquaintances was still happening
3. Saturday, it was read the RE stuff, do laundry, and just R&R.
4. With my flu a few weeks ago, and now studying for the easy RE test, I have not gone to the gym in over two weeks. Even though the RE tests are and have been easy, it's a little different than taking the live class. It's those trick questions hidden in the paragraphs. And I always want to do better than just OK. Plus being boring as it is, it seemed to take forever to read the crap. Should be done tonight.
5. With no gym, I made it a point to eat the same stuff, but less of it. I lost 5 lbs! Of course with no gym, no protein drinks. So that my also have something to do with it (water retention).
6. I actually stayed in on Saturday. Felt good for a change. Sunday I was up fairly early. I made it just in time to Pacifica to do the real lazy thing. Since I had a Potluck BBQ on Monday to go to, I went to Colombo's Italian Deli, and purchased a nice pasta salad. Then across the way to Mazzetti's Bakery to get a Strawberry Cheese Cake. Both were scarfed up fairly fast. Both of these family owned establishment have been there forever. Most of the stuff is homemade which makes it even better.
7. Sunday I ventured out to the Castro to meet up with friends. The place was packed with visitors in for the 3 day weekend.
8. Monday friends Tom and Lee had their Memorial Day BBQ. Was very nice. About 10-15 guys were there. Food, of course was great, and too much of it!
9. Later ventured off the the Edge Bar for Memorial Day fundraiser for the American Legion Veterans. The bar is looking so much better, as they go though the new changes with the remodel.
10. Friend Gary was there, with his well known dog Harry. Gary, who manages Cafe Flore, has been well known in the community for years, with his generous fundraising and event coordinating ability. Plus he's a nice guy. He take Harry out most of the time. Harry is so used to the crowed bar scene. A friendly dog, he just watches everyone, sleeps, or just wags his tail to the background music.
11. As for work, being a short week, been busy. A half hour before closing on Tuesday the owners send a list of rent increases to be sent out and delivered by closing. Looks like they are getting more aggressive. For some, instead of the normal $98 increases, they are going as high as $130 (at our sister property, it was as high as $200!).
12. I know that the rental market is booming at the moment. But food, gas, and such are also on the rise, whereas many have not seen a salary increase for years.
13. Oh well. The hard part is hearing the flack from the residents. I am working for the owner, but feel for the residents. Hard trying to wear two hats!
14. As for other things, the weather has been really odd. We are still getting rain. And the temps have been cool.
