1. Oh yea. It was the usual out with friends on Friday night. We, the 5 of us, taking Tom out for his birthday, at Eureka. I have always liked that place, but always found it a bit expensive. But then again, the food is good.

2. Looks like the ABC (alcohol and bev commission) has been hitting the area recently. The local bars were doing the crowd control thing. Lines to get in. Once in, not too crowded. So this was a heads up of what may happen New Year's eve. Long lines everywhere.

3. Home fairly early, Jim spent the night. It seems to take me forever to adjust to sharing a bed with someone. I suppose if it were more often, I'd get used to it, and be able to sleep soundly. LOL

4. New Year's Eve day, it was haircut, off to Costco, to check out the food platters and such for my next week's small party. And rest a bit.

5. Friend Ho, had a New Year Eve get together, from 6pm-9pm. Were about 15 people there. Many who I had not seen in quite awhile! We cheered New Years in NYC.

6. Many of the group then parted for the Castro, to celebrate New Years. Friend Carlos ([livejournal.com profile] sfmijo) and I, decided way before to forgo the festivities in the Castro and head home, before the roads are plastered with drunk drivers, and CHP's. Actually quite a few at the party said they were also going home early. The New Years thing in the Castro, with bars too crowded, is for the amateurs. "Been there. Done that."

7. So I was home by 10:30 pm, and actually in bed watching the reruns of festivities from Times Square (I know Dick Clark had a stroke last year or so, but his voice sounded so odd!)

8. By 12:30, I was sound asleep with the sound of fireworks in the distance.

9. Man! I'm glad I came home early. I felt great and rested! Before sleeping, I did ponder on my goals for this year. Hopefully they will be met.

10. After chatting with friend Khol, I decided to meet him at Renegades, in San Jose, for the BUTCH event. It was not too crowded, and the music and food served was good!

11. Saw the usual familiar faces. A couple of hours later, I was off to home, for I had to work today.

12. Again, corporate is closed, but we are not. It is quiet though. Processing rent checks, and trying to motivate myself to get organized for the new year. Well back to work!

1. Saturday morning, I think I was about to get a cold sore. That would be the second one since November.

2. The small lump under and the redness of the area of the lip, might be a sign

3. So I immediately put an ice cube on it for 15-20 minutes. Then later put some Alum on it for 10 minutes. I have been doing this 2-3 x's daily. I also started my regiment of 1000 mgs of Lysine daily (or twice daily). Think, it worked. It is much smaller, and seems to be going away (I hope).

4. With this was a returning onset of a buzzing sound in my right ear. It started to happen when I had my cold in November. Would later disappear. Then sometime reappear weeks later, with a clogged feeling up in the ear canal. It was gone for about 3 weeks, now it returned over the weekend

5. My doc, at Kaiser, said it is probably a slight ear infection, due to my cold, and the allergies. Once I get to Kaiser for my physical this month, he'll check it out (Kaiser seems to be lax about most things.... Oh well, must be no biggie I would think).

6. Anyway I emailed my Doc about the possibility of a cold sore, so he will probably prescribe antibiotics, which should help the ear too.

7. Prepping for next weeks party, I was digging though my packed boxes from my previous move, looking for my serving trays and all. I stumbled upon my nice silver plate ice bucket, that I got at an estate sale year ago. It was a steal then. But sadly, last night, it was badly tarnished.

8. After 3 times of trying to clean and polish, with silver polish, the clouds of tarnish, and black dots were still annoyingly there in several spots.

9. So after Googling, I found that toothpaste can be used (carefully) to remove stubborn tarnish. One article said it can scratch the silver, another said it was perfectly fine. So I took my chances, and took my Colgate toothpaste, with Whitening Bubbles, and gently rubbed.

10. Within minutes, the tiny spots that I had not been able to remove for years were gone!

11. Plus my kitchen smelled of toothpaste! :)

12. So as a last step, I re-polished with silver polish. Who would of known that toothpaste can do that? I just have to redo the arms tonight, and it should be fine.

13. Humm. Wonder how toothpaste works on chrome car bumpers?

14. Just call me Suzie Homemaker!
