I'm a bit annoyed. My trainer was fired??
Mar. 12th, 2008 10:03 pmMy gym trainer called me this morning and said the gym, Ballys, that we go to, and he trains me at, let him and a few other trainers go. So now what?
They let him go, because he does not have enough clients, and not making the numbers. Ballys, is cleaning up. Since the chapter 11 thing, they are getting serious.
Well I knew he may get in trouble. Back story: Initially when I joined, I got 8 sessions with a trainer. Chris, my trainer, is good. But unlike the other trainers there, he is not a full time trainer. He has another full time job, including his own time to train for competitions. So after my 8 sessions, he added a few for free. At that time, Bally's was under chapter 11, and was not paying the trainers in a timely manner. So Chris, a bit upset, after being payed 2 weeks late, decided to take 3 of his most dedicated and serious clients (me included), and train us on the side. I would not pay Bally's, but pay him directly (much much cheaper). He would train us in between his regular "Bally's" clients. And if Bally's was crowded, we would train at a old fashioned smaller gym downtown.
So now what. I have 2 yrs remaining at Bally's. They don't want him there. However Chris offered to pay my 3 months at the smaller old fashioned gym, which he did today. But after the 3 months, I will need to pay. I really did not want to join 2 gyms.
1. Ballys has new machines. It is a bit crowded. Sometimes full of annoying young girls and guys, with headsets, and phones looking for their man or woman. Not really working out. However there is the group of serious men and women too.
2.Bally's has good machines, music, and cute men. And lots of treadmills.
3. People never rack up at Ballys. Sometimes a mess. And sometimes too much of a wait to use the equipment
4. Physique Magnifique is the older gym. Old metal dumbbells, older machines, and much smaller gym. Here is where the serious people go. They run in, and train, then leave. The "body builders' go here. And there are some cute ones here too.But never crowded. No wait for the most part.
5. Physique Magnifique is like an old Golds Gym of the 70's.
Conclusion: Guess I may go to two. Train at the serious gym with my trainer. And do my own thing at Bally's. So I may join this one too since I am getting more serious about it all. When my Bally's membership expires I will consider renewing or not.

Date: 2008-03-13 05:28 am (UTC)Yep! Just got off the phone with my trainer. He said exactly the same thing. But I will use the machines a bit at Bally's too (and the showers ;)
So we start Friday (Good. A bit of rest since I pulled my nerves and whatever in my lower back doing dead lifts. "Always wear a lifting belt". I did not listen to my trainer :(
