I never quite understood why a previous comment, that we recently edited still pops up in the messages box (or our personal emails). Isn't the point of editing a form of deletion? If I have edited a comment, I usually don't want the recipient reading the previous uncorrected comment? N'est-ce pas?

Has to do with time. The comment gets sent. The edited comment gets sent. There are no real "take backs" in email. Just in LJ.
