After 50 yrs of pretty much pretty good health, except for the big bout of childhood pneumonia, and the standard colds throughout my life, mild non major STDs of early gay sex exploration yrs ago. My mom was proud of herself for nurturing me and keeping my health up. But I finally got it.
A cold sore. Not a big one, but I got it, with my cold.
1. This is the second time, in my whole life, since Christmas that it occurred. Never had one before. My mom got them all the time. But always careful when she had it.
2. Guess my system is changing.
3. I don't even remember if or when I had chickenpox or measles. I think I did.
4. I do know that with the stress of Mom passing last yr, my colds did increase. Got bronchitis, and a tad of pneumonia, which I have not had since early childhood. So yes, guess the stress, frequent colds since the holidays did compromise my immune system. And maybe not enough recoup time from gym and colds probably did not help.
5. So I am pissed. I know about 80% of the population get them, but I am pissed.
6. After 3 days, it is almost gone, but I am pissed.
7. So after searching the net for homemade remedies (which are very interesting), and things to do to prevent the occurrence, I stumbled onto this one
8. Urine Therapy. Readily practiced in Japan, Europe, and even by our friends in the animal kingdom.
9. Odd as it seems, urine is not a waste produce as feces is. It is a filtered product of the blood
10. I remember in my college days (believe it or not I have a BS in Biology), this was mentioned quite a bit in my studies of the Renal System. Also in my studies, many professors did not knock the holistic or ancient ways of medical practice. In fact they embraced them. (Odd for a school noted for pre-med, that they would tout such practices. So what happened to the pre-med students who graduate and enter the medical community to later end up foo fooing the ideas if ancient medicine, and embellishing the prescription drug ways to curing?).
11. Anyway, here is an easy to read link from one of many sites.
12. If I ever feel the beginnings of a cold sore, I will, as with ice, lysine, peroxide, try urine too. Why not.

Yep. The doc told me to get Abreva, which I did, (21.99 at Walgreens), and even thought I may have started applying it later than I should, it seems to be working (as is the Neosporin) quite well. (I also took it with me to the Eagle and applied a light amount in the Eagle bathroom :)

Abreva comes in two different packages... a little squeeze tube, and a small pump. I find the pump much easier to use... it's quicker than fiddling with the squeeze tube and its cap, and it meters out the right amount each time.
