cellboy: (So heavy)

1. So now, the food police is battering Potato Chips. Chips are piling on the pounds.

2. I probably have 20-30 chips a day at lunch. Reduced Guilt Kettle Cooked Chips from Trader Joe's. I love them!!

3. Well. I go to the gym at least 3-4 days a week. Lift weights, cardio, crunches, and other ab work too. I eat low carbs, high protein, low fat meals.

4. So I'll cut back, but eat them anyway. Maybe 10 chips. That will be hard! Once I start it's hard to stop!

5. I will try substituting with something else once the bags are finished. Maybe that will help reduce the bit of fat on my tummy.

6. But then again I should have some food enjoyment in life :P

I gave them up. I switched to banana flavored rum.

Eat the chips. You'll only gain 6-3/4 OUNCES per year after eating 22.8 POUNDS (365 OUNCES) of potato chips.

Of course, you could have a cup of strawberries (50 calories), and a half-cup of Chobani fat-free Greek Yogurt (85 calories) and save yourself a few calories.

Your calculations on the previous comment (before editing) were impressive! I will continue to eat the chips. But maybe not so much (I could go through a this 7oz bag in 15 minutes right now!). I will periodically switch out with another snack. Guess better than going through McDonald's for fries twice a day. Now fries are my real weakness! YUM! :)

Well of to the gym :(
Oh! I mean :)

Yum! I do eat fat-free Greek Yogurt with frozen blueberries several times per week! Love it! Add a bit of honey and it's better! I have decided to nix Smart Balance butter (which I used for years) for real butter (whipped), and the low fat peanut butters (they all seem to have Hydrogenated oil/fat) for Old Fashioned peanut butter (just peanuts, no hydrogenated fats (PB is also a major crave for me. Could eat a jar in an hour!). I have really not fluctuated much in weight doing this. Think my sister and common sense is right. Try to keep the foods simple like our grandparents did. Real food. Not the processed stuff. Just watch the calories :)

The article was "bogus". The article read:
Potato chips were the biggest dietary offender. Each daily serving containing 1 ounce (about 15 chips and 160 calories) led to a 1.69-pound uptick over four years.
I went out to nutritiondata.com and looked up an ounce of potato chips, standard issue. They're 152 calories per ounce. That's 22.8 pounds of potato chips for 55,480 calories per year.

But, all that only puts on a mere 6-3/4 ounces. Food police, indeed.

Weight is a big issue with me. I go by the qualitative school of thought, meaning that I worry more about what I eat, as opposed to the amount.

So, I have a big list of foods I avoid. A news articles comes out and says I should eat X vs Y, I'm on it.

Now, if the food police told the truth, I'd be 160 pounds. Let me tell you. They lie.

Almond butter should be better than peanut butter, as almonds are "magical".

But, I quit eating bread, so I have no Smart Balance.

Almonds are considered better. Higher in many nutrients. I always forget about that choice. Thanks! I will get some next time I'm out.

Come to think of it, my Grandmother lived to the ripe old age of 102. She lived on an Almond ranch for the last 30yrs of her life. She ate almonds daily (walnuts and oranges off the tree too). Maybe the almonds (and the genes of course) gave her those extra healthy years. But she really ate most anything, basic stuff, but not excessive, and had her glass of wine or sherry before bed. She always said, "Eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince, and dinner like a Pauper, and you will live long."

OK. Now I'm getting hungry with all this. Off for a couple of tablespoons of Peanut Butter!

Chips... haven´t had any for ages... *sigh* I LOVE chips but the caloris, the fat... *sigh*

You´ll cut back? I wonder if that´s possible, if you opened the back it´s impossible to stop eating before it´s empty... at least that´s my experience... Wish you good luck. :-)
