National Coming Out Day

cellboyOops! I posted about my coming out in FB yesterday, but never mentioned it here.
When I came out, in 1982, my Mom did not take it too well. My dad asked, "What happens in gay bars?". LOL. It took time for my mom to accept me as I am, with the help of my sister (and one of my 80 yr old aunts) and after 10 yrs of having a partner, she eventually grew to love and accept him as a second son. Months before she died, she said she missed him very much, and loved me for who I am, with no conditions. She just wanted me to be happy and complete :)
