1. Christmas eve, I left my place at 4:30pm
2. Arrived at my sister at 8pm, just in time for drinks and 9pm dinner
3. It took me longer to go over the Bay Bridge than it took for me to drive from the Oakland side of the Bay Bridge to Sacramento. Almost almost 2 hrs to get up 101 (from the 280/101 interchange north) and over the Bay Bridge; and then 1-1/2 hours from the Oakland side of the Bay Bridge to Sacramento.
4. But it was worth it. Family, food and drinks and gifts.
5. What a great idea it was to only choose (one person drew out of a hat at Thanksgiving) to buy only one gift for the designated person. It went fast.
6 Of course Gavin, my 8 month old grand nephew got many gifts from all of us. He is so cute. I think he will stay cute(like his parents). He will break a lot of hearts when he is older. Wonder if they will be women's hearts or men's hearts. Time will tell.
7. Got back home early afternoon. Cleaning a bit etc. Work tomorrow.
8. My cold is better. Although once in awhile I go through coughing spells, and cough up goo (ew).

My friends are my family. My extended family. I love them all so. I was thinking that years ago, I always wanted to spend and do the holidays with my friends, not always wanting to be with my family. Much of the time, it was almost a hassle in finding the time to see Dad and Mom. And as each of them were loosing their health, it was even harder. Emotionally harder.
But as I am getting older, and as many of the relatives and family members pass on, I realize that with family, no matter what the dynamics is, bad or good, that it is important to be together, while they are with us, as much as we can, during these special times and holidays.

My mom was worried that our small family would not stay together or in contact after she died. It was my mom that really was the center, the anchor of it all. But it looks like we are doing it. My sister is trying. So am I. I am not as close to my nephews as I wish I could be. We are running in different directions. My sister and her husband, running their own business. One nephew is married, with a new child. The other in love with a girl (who has a child). And me.... just finding my way to someday settle down with a good man. We are all leading such different lives. And all of us each a part of a colorful tapestry that makes up my family. Merry Christmas. And a Happy New Year
