weird feeling

this is not a boo hoo thing, but as you all know, my mom passed away last June. This Sunday is Mother's Day. I keep feeling I have to be somewhere this weekend (aside from my great nephews 1 yr B-day), then realize it's Mother's Day and I don't. When I did, I drove up to my mom's home, on a yearly basis, but many times I really wanted to stay home instead. Although once I did go up and visit, I was glad I did. I did my good deed. This time I am relieved I don't have to drive up for the day, but actually wish I would have to, even though I don't want to. This is a weird feeling. Not a sad thing, but just a weird feeling.
Well in any case, if you still have a parent, try to be there for them as much as you can. That opportunity may not be there someday.

Sounds corny, but you can still buy a Mother's Day card.
Strangely comforting I know.
You might see other grown ups tearing up in the Target card section.

This is my second year of Mom's Day without Mom, and it hasn't gotten any better. As a matter of fact, it feels a bit worse somehow. I agree that we can still buy the card, mail it off to ourselves even, but the fact remains. I do know, due to my spiritual beliefs, that I can contact her or send a message if I want, and she will receive it. Same way I get messages from her. Maybe I'll make a nice pot of tomato sauce that she taught me to make.

Yeah. I know I can contact my mom too. Mother's Day was never a biggie for her, but I did try to be with her. Of course she always asked if I was coming up (guilt??:) Christmas last year was harder for me. That was her biggest day. She loved to entertain, especially that day and the holiday season.

I know just how you feel. As is the case this year and every 4 or so, Mother's Day falls on what would have been her birthday, May 10th. It will be a quiet day for me.
